Elliot Kempton

Elliot Kempton was born in Wales to a musical family and was taught by his parents until he was 18. He developed a passion for chamber music through performing alongside his family in local concerts across Wales, presenting works from the classical canon, original compositions, and his own arrangements of folk, tango, jazz, rock, and pop music. In 2018, he went on to study with Bartosz Woroch at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and then pursued postgraduate studies with Matthew Jones at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In 2022, he joined the Fibonacci Quartet and has since enjoyed a busy schedule of recitals and festival appearances across the world. While his work with the Quartet takes him to international stages, Elliot remains deeply committed to championing Welsh repertoire. During his studies, he was a founding member of Quartet Draig, a string quartet focused on working with contemporary composers, as well as discovering unpublished Welsh music forgotten over time. He continues this work with the Oneira Trio, collaborating with flute and harp to promote Welsh repertoire throughout the UK.
In 2023, Elliot was awarded an LSO Conservatoire Scholarship, a programme designed to support exceptional musicians facing financial barriers. Since then, he has spoken at industry events to address the challenges facing musicians from under-privileged backgrounds. His work in this area also includes interviews with The Strad, Bachtrack, and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as featuring in a short film produced by the London Symphony Orchestra exploring these issues.
Elliot is extremely grateful for the support he has received from the London Symphony Orchestra, Harrison Frank Foundation, Royal Philharmonic Society, Hattori Foundation, Stephen Bell Charitable Trust, Countess of Munster Trust, and the James Pantyfedwen Foundation.
